Uganda Tour to Top Uganda Tourism Destinations -12 days

This is a 12 day Tour taking you for the very best safari destinations in Uganda. This Uganda Tour is available on both scheduled and private basis. The tour starts from Murchison Falls National Park believed by many to be the most beautiful national park. A launch cruise on the Nile is one of the most adventurous tourist activities that cannot easily be erased from tourist memories. Later the tour will take you through the western arm of the Rift Valley as you drive to Kibale Primate Forests.
This Uganda Tour will also take you for a wildlife tour through the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you can see a wide diversity of game such as elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, and leopards. Other tour activities included in this Uganda Tour within Queen Elizaeth National Park include a hunt for the tree-climbing lions lounging on old fig trees in the Ishasha region as well as a launch cruise on Kazinga Channel where schools of hippos and crocodiles can be seen.  A wide variety of birds at the channel present a haven to birders yet the tropical rain forests of Maramagambo are a treasure to nature lovers.
This tour later takes you to Bwindi Gorilla Forest for a gorilla tour through this ancient rainforest. Tracking some of the last remaining 700 mountain gorillas in the world is breath taking and very rewarding. This activity will be carried out in Bwindi where there are 3 habituated gorilla families. From Bwindi the tour will take you to the Beautiful Lake Bunyonyi the deepest lake with historical islands. As you return to Kampala you will have another game viewing tour in Lake Mburo National park, another beautiful savanna park in the Western part of Uganda.

Day 1: Kampala City Tour
After breakfast our tour guide will pick you from your hotel for a Kampala City tour as you refresh yourself from the jet lag. The tour will take you to different heritage sites which include the Kasubi tombs-a burial site for the Kings of Buganda, the Uganda museum-the oldest museum in East Africa, Makerere University-one of the oldest educational institution in Africa and the Bahai temple-the only temple of Bahai faith in Africa. Spend the evening relaxing, or carry your own shopping in Kampala’s local markets that are also worthy to visit. Dinner and overnight at your preferred hotel in Kampala

Day 2: The Rhinos of Ziwa sanctuary
After breakfast, leave Kampala for Murchison Falls National Park located in North Western part of Uganda. Passing via the Luweero have a panoramic drive northwest through the former battle zone of the Luwero Triangle. Have a stop at Ziwa Rhino’s sanctuary for a brief tour of this Rhino restoration project. Following extinction of Uganda’s Rhino in the early 1980s during the period of civil unrest and heavy poaching, a sanctuary has now been established to breed black and white rhino, and restore Rhino populations in Uganda’s protected areas in a later stage. Dinner and overnight at Masindi Hotel.

Day 3: Game Viewing at Murchison Falls
After breakfast, go for a morning game viewing tour which will take you through different habitats. On the drive you may see different animals which include giraffes, Elephants, Bushbucks, Lion, Jackal, Hartebeest and a variety of birdlife. Take a drive to the top of the falls. From the different viewpoints you will be able to see the refreshing spray as the second world’s longest river, the Mighty Nile thunders through different rapids from a 7-metre gap to fall over 40 meters below. Return to the lodge for lunch and later proceed to the river for a launch trip from where a number of animals can be seen. These include schools of Hippos, crocodiles, water birds, sometimes elephants, among others. Many birds can also be seen at the banks of the river. These include goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelican bee-eaters, kingfishers, Hornbills, cormorants and the rare shoebill stork. Evening game drive before you retire for dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/

Day 4: Chimp tour in Budongo Forest
After breakfast you will enter the tropical rain forest of Budongo for a guided nature walk. From the forest, there are a number of chimpanzees as well as other primates. Have lunch and relax as you regain for another superb evening a game viewing tour on the Northern banks of the Nile from where you may be able to spot elephants, lions,  Rothschild’s giraffes, cape buffalos, waterbucks, oribi, bushbucks, spotted hyenas, hartebeests and at times leopards and lions. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 5: Albertine Rift Tour 
After breakfast start off from Murchison Falls National Park for Fort portal. Heading Southwest wards through the Albertine rift, this journey takes you through beautiful scenic area characterized by escarpments of the western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley. On reaching the colorful and beautiful Fort Portal town located in the shadow of the mythical Mountains of the Moon, continue to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Dinner and Overnight at Ndali Lodge/Primate Lodge/Rwenzori View Guest house/Kanyanchu Ecological site.

Day 6: Kibale Forest National park
After an early breakfast, proceed to Kibale Forest National Park for Chimpanzee trekking. While on the track you will be able to encounter other different primate species which include Red-Colobuses, grey cheeked Mangabeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, the blues as well as other wildlife such as butterflies, birds and many other small insects. Your tour guide will guide you through tree identification in the forest as well as in explaining to you the other features of the forest. After tracking return to the lodge for lunch after which you will take a nature walk through the Bigodi Swamp. On the walk different birds and mammals can be seen. Day 7: Kibale Forest-Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast drive to Queen Elizabeth National park. You will enter the park while viewing the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range. With a game drive en-route you may see different animals which include the comical warthogs, lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, hyenas and a variety of antelope species. After lunch, proceed to Kazinga Channel for a launch cruise. On the cruise different animals can be seen drinking water along the shores. These include hippos, elephants, buffaloes as well as water birds. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge – Full board

Day 8: Game drive in QENP
Wake up early morning and go for a game viewing tour to seek out wildlife. Rest during the heat of the day and then go on an evening game viewing tour through the savanna plains of Queen Elizabeth. The game seen will depend on the season; the Kasenyi plains are good for lion and the Mweya peninsula for a variety of animals. Dinner and overnight at Mweya/Jacana / Institute of ecology.

Day 9: Chimpanzee Tracking in the Kyambura Gorge.
On this day you will have an excursion to Kyambura gorge and get a chance to track the fast moving and elusive chimpanzees, one of man's closest relations. The chimp population is quite mobile and viewing is unpredictable but the walk is enchanting. Alternatively go for a nature walk in Maramagambo Forest to see other primates and visit the bat cave and the blue lake. In the afternoon take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel where the wildlife and a vast array of birds come for a drink. Dinner and overnight at Mweya/Jacana / Institute of ecology.

Day 10: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, located in the south western part of Uganda. Either drive via Ishasha, where you will have a chance to see the tree climbing lions, roads permitting, or take the alternative route through cultivated expanses. If you get there early; you will go for a guided nature walk. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge/ Gorilla forest Resort/ Buhoma community bandas.

Day 11: Gorilla Tracking
Go gorilla tracking (subject to permit availability at time of booking), walking up steep densely forested hills before finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation. An inspiring moment! Tracking in Bwindi Gorilla Forest requires stamina and can often take most of the day. Alternatively go for a leisurely nature or community walk. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort/ Buhoma community Bandas.

Day 12: Guided Nature Walk & Local Community Tour
After breakfast go for a guided nature walk in the thick forest rich in birds, butterflies and monkeys. Alternatively go for a stroll around the Lodge or for a community tour with in the surrounding local communities. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla forest Resort/ Buhoma community bandas.
